Manchester Poetry Prize Gala

Manchester Metropolitan University will be announcing the winners of their inaugural £10,000 Poetry Prize at this special gala event featuring readings from competition judges Carol Ann Duffy, Gillian Clarke and Imtiaz Dharker, as well as the shortlisted entrants. Gillian Clarke is a poet, playwright, editor and translator and was a co-founder of the Ty Newydd Writer’s Centre in North Wales. Her most recent collection is Making the Beds for the Dead. Pakistani born Imtiaz Dharker is a poet and documentary maker. Her four collections include Postcards from god and The terrorist at my table. Carol Ann Duffy is a celebrated poet, playwright and librettist and has been awarded an OBE and a CBE for her services to literature. Her poetry collections include Rapture, which won the 2005 TS Eliot Prize.
