We are delighted to be hosting the Manchester leg of this national tour organised by the Poetry Translation Centre. The event features Corsino Fortes from Cape Verde, Noshi Gillani from Pakistan, and Maxamed Xaashi Dhamac ‘Gaarriye’ from Somaliland. They are all distinguished figures in their own countries, and their poems have been translated by linguists paired with leading UK poets. Sean O’Brien’s latest collection, The Drowned Book, won both the Forward and TS Eliot Prizes. Lavinia Greenlaw’s collection, Minsk, was shortlisted for the Forward Prize and Whitbread Poetry Award. W N Herbert’s most recent collection, Bad Shaman Blues, was shortlisted for the TS Eliot and Saltire prizes. Join us for what promises to be a fascinating insight into the art of translation.

Please note, due to family illness Noshi Gillani is now unable to take part in the tour but her translator, Nukhbah Langah, will be reading on her behalf.
