Michael Schmidt OBE, founder of Carcanet Press and PN Review, will be quizzing our panel of distinguished editors as to the health and future of independent literary magazines. Philip Davis is editor of The Reader magazine and has published widely on Memory and Writing and The Experience of Reading. Margaret Obank is the editor of Banipal, an independent literary magazine publishing contemporary authors and poets from across the Arab world in English translation, which she co-founded with the Iraqi author Samuel Shimon in 1998. Adam Petite is the founding editor of the online poetry magazine Manifold. Fiona Sampson is the editor of Poetry Review, the first woman to hold the post since Muriel Spark in 1947-9, and has published fifteen books, including the poetry collection Common Prayer (Carcanet, 2007).
