Belinda Webb reads from her debut novel, A Clockwork Apple (Burning House), about a girl gang leader set in a dystopian Moss Side. The novel is based on Belinda's own experiences of growing up in the Moss Side neighbourhood.
Despite little formal schooling, Belinda has developed a unique and remarkable literary talent and is about to begin a PHD in Creative Writing at Manchester University, following two degrees in English Literature in London. She will be involved in encouraging young girls from Moss Side to get into creative writing through the Urbis Learning Centre in the summer, and is also working with youth-run magazines.
