Passing Down

Working in partnership with Manchester Literature Festival and Manchester Science Festival, poet Helen Clare explores how identity is shaped by the family stories passed down to us, and how this relates to a contemporary understanding of genetics.

During the project, Helen will be talking to scientists and community members around Manchester and running some creative writing workshops, leading to the production of a word-based visual art exhibition in collaboration with textile artist Lynn Setterington.

Helen Clare is a Manchester-based poet with an interest in scientific subjects. Her collection Mollusc was published by Comma Press.
