Basque Poetry & Music

The Literature Festival was pleased to join forces with Literature Across Frontiers and the Cervantes Institute to present a rare opportunity to experience the work of leading Basque writers. Felipe Juaristi is a renowned poet and translator. Kirmen Uribe is also a poet and writer for children. Both writer's oeuvres are shot through with Basque sensibilities and an acute sense of the region and its culture. The work of both poets is included in the new anthology of contemporary Basque poetry by Arc Publications (www.arcpublications.co.uk). The readings were indispersed with songs played by the popular Basque songwriter, guitarist and singer Ruper Ordorika.
