Following on from our hugely popular 'poets in translation' events in previous years, the Literature Festival joined with Literature Across Frontiers to present two highly-regarded contemporary Czech poets, who were in this country to promote Six Czech Poets (Arc Publications). Petr Borkovec’s latest collection, Vnitrozemí (Hinterland) was published in 2006. He has translated Russian 20th century poetry and has collaborated on translations of contemporary Hungarian poetry, classical Korean poetry and classical Greek drama. His selected poems in English translation by the poet Justin Quinn will be published in 2008 by Seren.
Kateřina Rudčenková’s first collection Ludwig was published to general acclaim in 1999. Her latest book of poems is Popel a slast (Ashes and Pleasure, 2005). Her first theatre play has won her a residency at the Royal Court Theatre in London and will be staged in Prague in 2008. Don't miss this rare chance to experience the language of life from another country.
