'Art Treasures in Manchester' marks the 150th anniversary of the largest art show ever seen in Britain. The original exhibition, held in 1857, was an incredible achievement for the city and an extraordinary artistic event. It was visited by eminent Victorian writers such as Elizabeth Gaskell and Charles Dickens. With this event, the audience discovered just how contemporary short story writer, David Gaffney responded to the 2007 exhibition at Manchester Art Gallery. Gaffney's collection of ultra-short fiction, Sawn Off Tales is published by Salt and his new collection Aromabingo is out in Autumn 2007, followed by his novel, Skip Trace, in 2008.
